Data Security Services: |
Newtech Recycling provides the following services for the guaranteed removal of proprietary information on all hard drives received at our location. A short summary and cost of each method is provided below:
Electro Magnetic Wipe*:
(Most secure destruction method) (Non-saleable systems)
$(Call for updated fee) per drive
This method is used for computers that are obsolete, non-working or for loose hard drives that have been removed from systems. This method uses high-powered magnetic fields that will remove all information on the hard drive. The effectiveness of this method far exceeds that of any other form of erasure. This method will also render the hard drive useless when completed. A serialized inventory of the equipment/drive is also included.
Hard Drive Erasure (Sanitizer): (Working/Current systems - inventory fee included)
$(Call for updated fee) per drive
The sanitizer method utilizes a layered method of overwriting data using a sequence of nulls (binary o, s) randomly generated characters, alternating characters or user definable fixes characters in any sequence. Sanitizer overwrites every sector and every cluster, down to every byte of information on the hard drive. Since the original information is overwritten, there is no place left for it to exist. As an extra measure of security, Sanitizer will allow for as many as 999 overwrites. It also reports bad sectors and the type of information residing on that sector. This method of erasure includes a serialized inventory of the equipment/drive that is serviced.
Magnetic Media*:
$(Call for updated fee) per item
This method uses high-powered magnetic fields that will remove every bit of information/data that is on the material. This is the most effective method of data erasure. The following are examples of this type of material: Back-up Tapes, Diskettes, VHS Tapes, CD Roms, DVD’s, Zip Disks and any other magnetic storage devices.
Serialized Inventory:
$(Call for updated fee) per unit (saleable or non-saleable)
Does not include data erasures.
Testing and Serialized Inventory:
$(Call for updated fee) per saleable unit (PC’s that potentially have fair market value)
Includes the testing, serialized inventory and appropriate data security services for all PC’s.
Working/Current systems will be powered up, tested and the data erased.
Non-Working/Obsolete systems will have the hard drive removed, serial number recorded and the data erased.
*Government Approved: The Electro Magnetic wiping system used at Newtech is approved by the UK Government for the destruction of secure and “Top Secret” information contained on computer hard drives and electronic media. The machine also has NATO identification numbers, signifying acceptance to perform the destruction of information.
